Before creating the toolkit and exercises, ThoughtForm and HMHS collaborated to define the information that HMHS consultants needed to collect from health plan partners in order to have successful sessions. By defining the ideal outcomes first, ThoughtForm was able to design a custom toolkit of engaging exercises, activities, and templates that allowed session participants to use both divergent and convergent thinking techniques. These thinking techniques helped consultants to supercharge innovation activities and see a greater return on time invested in the sessions.  In all, the toolkit included four exercises, five facilitation support tools (including HMHS-branded exercise templates), a facilitation checklist, and a workshop takeaway booklet.</image:title>

Through a series of reviews, ThoughtForm helped Bob Carter Companies narrow a robust list of new names down to Carter. The new brand structure and name represent the man, Bob Carter, but also the qualities and integrity that his expertise and team have become synonymous with. The logo was designed as a stylized globe that is encircled by a capital C—a design that is simple, elegant, and direct. ThoughtForm captured this work in the form of a logo library and guidelines manual that details how to use the new identity in a variety of applications.</image:title>

      <image:caption>Early on, ThoughtForm learned that Pratt &amp; Whitney used their website for a wide range of purposes. The Pratt &amp; Whitney site needed to put forth a strong brand impression, describe (but not overtly sell) their products, disseminate information to the press, and present aviation history and innovation to aviation buffs.  ThoughtForm was challenged to create a website that ticked all of these boxes, but still felt cohesive, streamlined, and on-brand.  The natural starting point for the project was to audit Pratt &amp; Whitney’s current site. Digging into features like content structure and navigation revealed a list of areas that needed the most attention. ThoughtForm then confirmed that our priorities were aligned with Pratt &amp; Whitney’s so we could hit the ground running.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>With the results of this audit serving as the foundation for the project, ThoughtForm began an iterative process of schematic development. We created a sitemap and wireframes, ensuring that the new website would have an easy-to-navigate structure for the user. The rule of thumb: it shouldn’t take more than two “clicks” to get to any item.  Once the site’s architecture was re-defined, ThoughtForm focused on its visual design. The new Pratt &amp; Whitney website needed to be contemporary, clean, and bold, with a refined color palette. It also needed to have a responsive design, functioning equally well on desktop and mobile devices.  A library of visual assets, such as icons that signaled different sections of the media center, extended the graphic feel of the website.</image:caption>

To facilitate reviews, ThoughtForm used an agile design process, developing the site in a series of sprints. For each sprint review, ThoughtForm created a private staging site so that Pratt &amp; Whitney team members could provide feedback on the design’s functionality and appearance.  These reviews informed future design iterations, helping ThoughtForm to refine the prototypes into a completed website that was ready to be deployed.  The Pratt &amp; Whitney website is currently hard-coded, with the intent to migrate it to a content management system (CMS) for easier updates and maintenance in the future. ThoughtForm and Pratt &amp; Whitney continue to plan for the resources needed to maintain a CMS.</image:caption>

ThoughtForm facilitated a four-day, in-person workshop that assembled regional teams in one location for the first time, all to work on completing the framework.  ThoughtForm presented a diagram that outlined dealer process and planning activities. Working in small groups with participants from different regional teams, each group organized the activities to create Key Areas for CRM. After a large group discussion to evaluate each small group’s approach, ThoughtForm and Caterpillar built a master version that all regional teams agreed to use with dealers. This was a critical milestone: the Key Areas were set and the rest of the workshop could be spent filling in the rest of the framework.</image:caption>

ThoughtForm facilitated a second in-person workshop with the global team to finalize the strategy and plan implementation with dealers.  New Caterpillar participants were invited and asked to share an update on their teams’ efforts that impact CRM. Participants quickly learned that there were two CRM strategies in the works at Caterpillar—the one developed with ThoughtForm for Cat dealers and another one that started internally, and focused on the Caterpillar enterprise as a whole. Some elements across the two strategies were similar, but a closer examination was necessary to prevent confusion for dealers who interface with both teams. ThoughtForm quickly shifted the course of the workshop and led exercises to merge the two strategies without compromising either team’s goals.</image:caption>

While the model was being developed, ThoughtForm proposed a communications and change management plan to Caterpillar that outlined the tools that regional teams would need to drive CRM adoption at dealerships. The Caterpillar team prioritized the materials within the plan so ThoughtForm could create a communications suite that enticed dealers with the benefits of CRM, educated them on the strategy, and then helped them to develop and act on an improvement plan.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As a new enterprise-wide discipline, innovation needed to be centralized so ideas from all areas of Anthem could be embraced. ThoughtForm worked with Anthem to define two innovation organizations. ThoughtForm then illustrated how the enterprise collaborated with these organizations to create and develop innovative ideas. The first organization, the Innovation Center of Excellence, needed to define and communicate Anthem’s strategic priorities for the year so that Anthem employees could understand where they should look for ideas. The second organization, the Innovation Studio, needed to explain its process and funding model as an internal innovation accelerator. Once these organizations were defined, ThoughtForm created a series of presentations and visualizations that were used to communicate the changes to Anthem’s C-suite and Board of Executives.</image:caption>
